Studio Storage Solutions

My Favorite Storage Solutions!

I love sharing ideas that make the art studio more functional, flexible, and organized! A well-organized space allows for smoother transitions, maximized creativity, and fewer distractions. Here are some of my favorite organizational tips to help you with your space and streamline studio setup. 1️⃣ Maximize Wall & Ceiling Space

(Super magnets glued the backs of various frames, magnetic timers, and magnetic acrylic shelves make good use of wall real estate.)

Your walls are prime real estate for storage and display! Here’s how to make the most of them:

  • Super Magnets – Glue super strong magnets onto heavier items to display them on your whiteboard or chalkboard. This makes it easy to swap out highlighted lessons, inspiration, or student work without damaging the walls.
  • Magnetic Shelves for Whiteboards – These acrylic magnet shelves are a game changer! Perfect for displaying books, anchor charts, and inspiration without taking up counter or floor space.
  • Pegboards & Hooks – Use pegboards to hang frequently used tools like scissors, rulers, and paintbrushes for easy access. No more digging through drawers!
  • Favorite Whiteboard timer.
  • Wordwall on the ceiling!

2️⃣ Smart Supply Storage

(spray painted carts serve as centers, thrift found containers hold colorful items.)
(Acrylic menus identify studio centers and hold help sheets.)

Keeping supplies organized (visible and accessible) is key to a smooth-running studio. Try these solutions:
  • Clear BinsStackable and transparent bins make it easy to see what’s inside without needing labels. Perfect for organizing different types of materials!
  • Art Carts – Rolling carts are a game-changer—mobile, versatile, and perfect for bringing materials wherever they’re needed. I use mine for everything from painting stations to weaving supplies. Thanks to our incredible maintenance team and district carpenter, my organizing dreams have become both a reality and budget-friendly. If you're looking to make your own storage dreams come true, consider grant writing, PTO support, or fundraisers like Artsonia or Square One to help fund a Jonti-Craft tower!
  • Wheels! – Adding wheels to furniture makes your space more flexible! I’ve added casters to our dollhouse, room divider, and even a coffee table—making it easy to rearrange as needed.

3️⃣ Table & Countertop Solutions

Your work surfaces should be functional and easy to maintain—here’s how to keep them that way:
  • Acrylic Menu Displays Use clear menu stands to hold how-to guides, center labels, or studio expectations. They’re sturdy, visible, and easy to move as needed!
  • Clear Containers – Organize supplies in clear bins, jars, or trays for quick and easy access—especially helpful for young artists!
  • Silicone Mats or Acrylic Covers – Protect those precious countertops (like my white quartz 🙃) from stains and messes with silicone mats or acrylic sheet covers. Bonus: They’re easy to wipe clean!

These small tweaks can make a BIG difference in keeping your studio organized, functional, and stress-free. Do you have a favorite organization hack? Let's be thinking partners, share it in the comments! 💬👇
