About Me!
Nice to meet you! I’m Dawn Lynn, and becoming an art teacher has been my dream since childhood. That dream became a reality in 2012 after years of wearing many educational hats—as a classroom teacher, Language Arts educator, and Instructional Technology Specialist. With 25 years in education, including the last 13 years in the art studio, I’ve had the privilege of guiding young artists in their creative journeys.
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Missouri-Columbia (MIZ-ZOU!) with certifications in Art K-12, Language Arts & Social Studies. I also hold a Master’s degree in Communication Arts from Webster University.
I’ve have the joy of leading the Willow Brook Art Studio, where we’ve embraced Teaching for Artistic Behavior (TAB) pedagogy and going strong for eleven years. Our studio is a space for personalized learning, where students take ownership of their creative journey by choosing both content and medium. Our core studio centers include Drawing, Painting, Collage, and Fiber Arts, while temporary pop-up studios—such as Sculpture, Architecture, and Sewing—rotate throughout the year. We also have special material carts for unique explorations like Jewelry Making and Ceramics, allowing students to dive deeper into new techniques and materials.
Every day, I’m inspired by my students—their problem-solving, perseverance, and creativity make each moment exciting and new. I truly LOVE what I do! I hope our artistic adventures in the Willow Brook Art Studio spark inspiration for you, too!
